Franz Rosati lives and works in Rome. He is active since 2006 with live-set audio / video presented at national and European festivals and in Canada (“Nuova Consonanza”, “Quit Festival”, “Viedram”, “Les Bains Numerique”, “Flussi”, “Digital Life”, “Code Control”, “Nuit Blanche Bruxelles”) , sharing the stage with artists such as David Letellier, Mika Vainio, Pan Sonic and Frank Bretschneider. He is founder and curator of Nephogram, label with which he releases both his own works and others by Italian and International musicians / sound-artists. The use of concrete and instrumental sound sources , specially recorded, transformed and deformed in real-time in dense and violent sound masses or microscopic acoustic particles projected in the space, are the cornerstones of his sound research. His live shows are often supported by audio-reactive visuals, consisting of complex 3D structures made through the use of special mathematical equations. He developed his style starting from a totally improvisational approach based on the use of software realized by himself, continuing to prefer a “live” approach also in the studio. He is currently a professor of “Interactive Technologies Applied to Sound and Image” at the Istituto Europeo di Design in Rome. He has collaborated with the collective Quiet Ensemble as sound / visual designer and software developer for interactive installations. Collaborates with guitarist Francesco Saguto for the GRIDSHAPE project, with the dancer Anna Basti, and is a member of the AIPS – Archivio Italiano Paesaggi Sonori collective.
