I'm just getting started with using Javascript in M4L. What is the paradigm for creating objects? Is it best to create a new LiveAPI object every time you want to connect to anything? Or is it better to create fewer new LiveAPI objects, and access child objects through their parent object? For instance, accessing a device through the track, or accessing a device object through the device? Or does it really not matter either way?

I am trying to send MPE data from live.dial values to an Ableton Wavetable. I'm using midiformat and mpeformat to consolidate the message. It's working well for polyphonic pressure, since it has a distinct input in midiformat, but not for polyphonic slide, which has to be sent as CC 74. I can monitor that CC 74 is sent from the patch, but in Ableton, it seems to stay as a CC and not being interpreted as MPE slide.

Does anyone has the trick to make this works?

I was testing send/receive performance in max4live this morning and noticed something kind of interesting. I made two simple patches, one sending a dictionary of pitch/velocity/duration  information from a max midi device and then a max instrument device that played a simple cycle~ with a function/line~ volume control.  

I then recorded the output of this, running it at various intervals down to 64n. The timing mostly held up fine, with minor jitter here and there on various buffer sizes in Ableton. The exception was when i hit 2048 it fell apart completely. The timing of notes was way off and it almost had a triplet feel with some notes being skipped.  I know max in overdrive has its timing based on signal vector size but I'm kind of surprised at the huge degradation in performance between 1024 and 2048.  

I tried investigating using the adstatus object but it seems like it doesnt report anything when running in m4l. 

Another thing to note is the tight timing also falls apart if the devices are being edited, which is understandable. 

Here are the patches i used. I did this quickly so they are a little bit of a mess 

this is the receive test m4l instrument device. I used two cycle~/line~ pairs just in case there were issues with overlapping notes 

(you'll want to enable Open In Presentation on both of those patchers)

I need a software on Windows which can playback Midi-Files AND can be controlled by SMPTE or LTC Timecode (don't even really know what the difference is).

I thought, Max could be a tool. Is it? I am looking at the "seq" object right now. 

My Master Software is Pandoras Box (from Christie). But Pandora doesn't playback Midi-Tracks. 

Ideally I would like to run the assisting Midi-Software (Max) on the same PC.

This is my first Max for live patch so forgive me if this is a stupid question. I've been trying to make a patch where i can cycle between different tracks. There are 3 tracks in total but I only want 1 to play at a time. Evey time when I hit the same midi button it should unmute one and mute the 2 others. Every new hit on this same midi button should unmute one of the other tracks and mute the rest.

I think everything works fine until I reach the live.object. I send a '0' message for mute and a '1' message for unmute to the live.object but I keep getting the "live.object doesn't understand "int"' error.

Does anyone know what I am doing wrong here?

I'm still getting the hang of max. I'm trying to recreate the Moog Model D in max. just so I can get more familiar with the program. I don't actually want to authentically try to recreate anything, more just the build and mechanic.

I've started with setting up the 3 oscillators to act as a poly synth. But I believe I'm taking the wrong approach here. 

Does anyone have any videos I could watch for this or have any solutions to my mentioned problems? I know that this is probably something that has been asked multiple times, but I didn't find any good resources on the forum yet. Maybe I'm looking for the wrong stuff. here is the patch:
