I'm not sure how to handle copying the whole content of one track of a [mtr] object to another track of the same [mtr]. I'm basically looking for a 'duplicate track' functionality.

My current solution is to use several one-track [mtr] objects, which makes the data copy easy (see below). Any pointers on duplicating a track in a multi-track [mtr] very welcome! (Max preferred to JS). The mtr dictionary structure is a little intricate, and I have not yet managed to rebuild a full mtr dict after parsing it...

I have Max 7.3.4 and I try to use the serial object in a patch. Whenever I open the patch is says:

patcher attempting to load itself: serial.maxpat

perhaps you have mistakenly named a patcher file the same name as an object it contains. this is not permitted.

Is it possible to send sysex to a vst loaded into [VST~]?

A group created a Virus C emulator (called Osirus) and the group advised the emulator can't be controlled by external programs due to ableton not being able to send sysex to a VST.

So I was thinking of helping them out and creating a Max object to take sysex in directly from Max, and send the MIDI directly to the emulator through VST~.

But before I go down that path wanted to find out from the experts here if sending sysex to the VST~ object was even possible?

If so, seems like this would be an easy patch:

[Imp.midiin] --> [VST~] and we're done. That would bypass the entire Ableton midi stack and get around the lack of ableton sysex support.

We noticed something very weird, and unusual.

I instantiante serial object on that port.

Arduino IDE closed, just incase of not closing serial monitor well..

Looks like it receives some bytes and stop (which is more something in the arduino side.)

Just to know about some possible same issues. Not necessarily debugging.

I spent some time searching for this, but "new patcher initial window location" turns up results for a lot of types of locations.

Is there a way to change the default window location when creating a new patcher?

(I wanted to align the top and bottom borders with the console window's upper and lower bounds -- they were off by 1 or 2 pixels. For the immediate need, I ended up repositioning the console window instead -- but, still curious.)

Double clicking doesn't seem to open it.  Any suggestions on how I can open it so I can see how it's built ?  The closest I got was to do open > original demosound.maxpat,  but when I do this it opens, yet I still cannot see how it's made.  It just opens in Presentation mode, with no options to put into edit mode.

So after my last topic, I'm completely baffled that Max (which prides itself with having "midi data at your fingertips") actually has worse midi sequencing capabilities than a 30-year old keyboard I picked up at a yard sale for 10€ (e.g. seq and detonate can't even loop a part of a midi sequence or jump to a specified position). So are there any good polyphonic sequencers for Max out there? I've already found the following, but they all have significant drawbacks.

Note~ for Max, latest version is now almost 5 years old. Over a year ago the creator stated that a new version was coming and that starting with the old version was discouraged. Can be considered dead?

Max4Life, Ableton looks great, but being a student I simply do not have that kind of cash lying around. Besides, spending 600€ to get some midi sequencing capabilities seems a little, uhm, steep.

RS.delos, looks interesting and could be sufficient, but is 25€. For several reasons I would rather use something that is free and open source.

Bach, seems powerful but complicated. Also only seems to offer classical notation, while I would rather have a piano roll?
