Currently, I'm sorting all my samples into two categories: those with a duration of 3 seconds or less, and those with a duration greater than 3 seconds, using the sfinfo object.

In my "master folder," which includes subfolders, I have approximately 16,000 samples. To gather their filenames, I employ a recursive search using JavaScript, resulting in an array of filenames. Subsequently, I feed this array into the sfinfo object to retrieve the length of each sample.

The process of obtaining the array of filenames takes around 3-4 seconds, which is efficient. However, the subsequent step, where sfinfo analyzes the files, is notably slow, taking approximately 3-4 minutes. During this time, Max appears unresponsive, with the spinning wheel suggesting a potential crash.

My query is whether there's a method to execute this task in the background or optimize the process for speed. Essentially, I'm looking for a way to offload this heavy-duty analysis to another thread or improve its efficiency to eliminate the unresponsive behavior.

Hi all, i had a couple of funky sounding recordings done with the QuickRecord Patch.

It happened because i am working at 48000. I notice that the QuickRecord Patch does not adapt to MAX's sample rate when loading. There is a [b] object that is supposed to first get the sample rate, then storing it into a [int] and then triggering it forward but somehow that does not work on my machine (Macbook M3) and the int gets triggered before the updated sample rate is stored in even if the [b] should ensure a correct execution order. I have Scheduler in Overdrive on and Audio interrupt off. I fixed the QuickRecord Patch like this... see img below

as you can see from patch or pic, i am really trying to step through how gen~ processes one sample at a time. My mai questio here is, is switch tested/queried/outputs at any time a value arrives at any inlet or only when a value is received in the first inlet? What trobles me, is that according to my step thru, event one (e1) seems to send both a value from the recipt at inlet 1 and inlet 2, which would cause 2 values backed up at history, both which seem problematically within the same sample frame. I lost my train of thought, so please not that my event scheduling loses it some point.

I suppose the more general question is, how does gen handle events? when we say that gen handles processing 1 sample at a time, per sample frame, does it follow right to left order? does switch respond to any value in any slot?

Please forgive the ugliness and ignorance expressed in this patch here. We've got two sequencers driven by a phasor. In this instance I'm outputting MIDI to Logic via the two noteouts - "from Max 1" on the top noteout and "from Max 2" on the bottom one. These are each talking to two logic instruments. My problem seems to be that the top sequencer seems to be dropping notes - sometimes I sense a pattern behind the dropouts and sometimes I can't.

Hi all, I am implementing a monosynth using a simple attack-decay envelope that utilizes curve~ (in hindsight, I see I could have just used live.adsr~, but I think this is a good exercise for me regardless).

I am attempting to use poly~ with two voices to limit the amount of "clicking". I would like to implement some sort of retrigger functionality (like what adsr~ offers), where the level moves to zero in a specified amount of time if asked to trigger before the envelope finishes. I'm a bit at a loss as to how to implement this and would appreciate any pointers or input.  Am I correct in thinking this can all be handled at the envelope level? Or do I need to make changes inside at the voice level?

As the title says, i am trying to work on a solution to control the focus motor of tilta nucleus nano from MAX 8. I am working on a show with cameras and i would like to integrate the focus changes from the run and GO of my stage controler, wich is a PC. I am using resolume to run videos and send OSC command to MAX for DMX video shutter control. I wish i could do the same for focus control.

All i know is that the tilta handle unit send UART 115200 in 2.4GHz to the motor, over 10 different channels, for multi motors purpose ( i use 2 motors and 2 handles ).

The handle can be connected to PC via USB but is not recognised.

It can be access via bluetooth but via special smarphone app.

So the question is can i send commands from MAX with some USB 2.4GHz emitter directly to the motor please ?

I guess i would be hard to get it working but it worth asking.

The 'step' key command in the debugger is shift-command-T. 

I programmed my X-pedal with it, so that I can step the natural way, with my foot. 

It would be even more convenient if I could program the 'continue' and 'abort' commands in it too.

You'd think that, if "step" has a key command, so should the others.

However, I have not been able to find those.

I want to receive an external MIDI clock in my RNBO patch running on a Raspberry Pi. But I can't get it to work. The [midiin] does not receive it. [transport] seems to run it's own clock, can't find a way to sync it to anything.
