I've got a bpatcher that includes a [textedit] box. The user (me) types some info into it to help initialize the rest of the bpatcher. I want to make it so that when you save and close the patch and reopen it, the text is still there waiting for you. If you alter it, it saves that new text for next time. Currently it resets on each reopen. 

I tried using [pattr] but couldn't figure out how to get it to work. I also considered [dict] but still couldn't figure it out. What would be the best way to do this? For whatever it's worth, I can easily add an inlet and/or outlet to this bpatcher abstraction, I don't mind hooking things up to it because the final shipped product will be in presentation mode and the text box will eventually be fixed and hidden away from the final user who will have no need to interact with it. For this reason, I was hoping to avoid a json file just to keep file sprawl down, but if that's what it takes I'm cool with it.

I'm trying to make sort of a groove box with RNBO and export it to raspberry pi, as a first attempt I thought the best way to tackle it was to take the synth building blocks and the guitar pedals libraries to make it. 

However, when I try to copy and paste a building block to another rnbo patch it doesn't understand the param object and gets rid of the ins and outs of the bpatcher. 

Furthermore it got me thinking, can I have a wave table and a granular synth in the  same RNBO patch so i can use them at the same time, or is the groovebox idea unfeasable?

Hey There, I hope you are well. I am looking for someone to create a system in Ableton that can detect the key of an audio clip that is currently playing and transpose other audio clips that are triggered to be in the same key.

I am sure there are multiple ways of doing this and if you have a better way than the one outlined below I would love to know and commission you to build it. I believe the way I have recommended is quite a straightforward way to do it but I am not a programmer and if there is a smarter way to do this compared to reading a clip name I am all ears!

I also think there needs to be a way when you have deactivated all clips that everything returns back to its original key. Perhaps this could be a simple button in a GUI?

Please can you estimate how much this would cost and how long this would take you?

I am coding in java script (Max 4 Live, Max 8 , Live 11) and it seems that global variables not only global within a script itself or the max device where the script is placed but also in the whole song for several js scripts.

Is this right? Are there any official notes regarding this?

Hi all! I'm using Max on my Mac to build M4L devices. My "File > New Project" option has been greyed out since I opened my project with different Max instances (one that comes with Ableton Live 11 and another with Ableton Live 10). 

I tried to completely uninstall all instances of Max & Ableton on my machine and re-install Max from Cycling 74 official website, but the "New Project" option is still greyed out. 

Also, I tried to open my original .maxproj project: it can be opened and run normally, but the "Build Collective / Application" and "Export Max for Live Device" options in the project window are also greyed out.

I'd appreciate it very much if anyone can provide help on this issue! Thanks!

I want to be able to send audio from the first instance of a device to any other instance within the instrument / effect thingy. BUT I only want it to send / receive for that track, so if I had multiple instances on another track it would not receive any sound from other audio/midi tracks. Any ideas?

My goal is to create a flexible M4L device that allows for dynamic swapping of effect chains within a structured signal routing setup (handled by Max). The audio signal enters the device from 

 and is split into two paths. One path remains unprocessed, while the other is routed through an effect chain. The specific signal routing beyond that becomes nontrivial and hacky in Live (but is simple in Max), which is why I want to implement it in Max rather than in a Live effect rack.

Ideally, I would like to structure the device such that I can load Live's native effects and third-party plugins to create arbitrarily customizable effect chains, much like a Live-native effect rack. I am considering options such as using
