i want to build dynamic fx which works as gate, expander, comp and limiter in one. i wanted to use the function object, to shape the dynamic curve. example: pt 1 is not allowed to get higher as pt 2, pt 2 as 3 etc. i found a way to do it, by disabling the clickmove argument of the function object , so the mouse " cant go any further, when it surpasses the height of the next point. however, when im making fast mouse movements, it triggers too slow, and the point still gets higher than the next one. the resulting value can at least can be minimized so the resulting signal path remains clean, but the only solution i got is by banging the wanted position, after the clickmove argument is disabled, which results in a "jumping" line. is there any way to handle that better? if anyone knows how to limit the min max of each single point please let me know.

for what exactly in this effect would you need a curve for? there is only min, max and treshold/ratio, that is 3 points of which one is movable...

but i understand the other half of the question. the basic mechanism you need is 

"if value of A > then value of B, then A must "set" control B, otherwise do nothing." 

and for backwards, c->b and b->a you do the same with <.

i cant upload now. recreate this. if you need more than 3 you may simply copy the middle part to create more "channels".

first start with sliders or numbers, then adapt your function to it.



okok i have to describe it little bit better. i was thinking of doing sth like the kilobytes dynamic tool. so you basically get a xy graph and behind that there's a gate , expander, compressor and limiter, i guess. It's rather not meant s tool for classic sound processing, there you want to make a bd punchy, or compress vocal (the parameter s of each instance would be to different between gate and comp), than as sound design tool, that lets you enhance quiet , while still being able to eliminate a noise floor and running it into a limiter to get a nice texture for layering in a synth. (gate will need a second attack release time i reckon), but the rest was i know already from the kilohearts fx... and it is really useful for sounddesign, its fast & efficient. but i think i figured it out.... i's not 100 % perfect because the mouse can still surpass the maximum of then next point , but it instantly snaps back, once the mouse cursor gets below the level of then next point the point gets moveable again. smoothed it out quiet bit.... still a little bit weird but it works. so interface wise i should be finished in a couple of days

Function object. is there a way to limit single points in function, so they have a maximum y range
