1 camera to 2 computers? DFG/USB2-LT

April 1, 2011 | 8:50 pm

Seeking hardware advice.
Has anyone had success connecting 1 (standard def) camera to 2 computers simultaneously?
Planning to use the Imaging Source DFG/USB2.
Can the device communicate with drivers on two machines?
Splitting USB signal from the DFG with a USB hub will work?

I will be able to test this next week, but right now your comments are most welcome.

No, you can’t connect any USB device to two computers simultaneously. So if you use an analog to digital converter like the DFG/USB2 you would need to split the analog signal first and than send it to 2 converters each connected to one computer.

Excellent — thank you!

Kurt – Have you confirmed that the DFG/USB2 works with OSX? (perhaps you are running jitter on a PC?)

I’m searching for a OSX compatible Composite input device and I’m having a heard time determining if the DFG/USB2 will function on OSX
