1. Pause Groove 2. Buffer in Max5

Hello

I wonder whether someone could give me a tip:

Pause a soundfile:
1, I can pause sfplay~ but can not control the rate of it.
2, I can control the rate of groove~ but could not pause it.
(I am sure it could be done with saving the rate somewhere and sending 0 whenever I want to pause it, I just wonder whether there is an easier way around it.)

The other thing is in Max5 when I import an mp3 in a buffer with no buffer size, it just does not work. If I read an aiff file in first ant then an mp3, the mp3 get’s stored, but only the lenght of the previous aiff file? In Max 4 it was working.

Any help appreciated,
Krisztian

it does work.
you have to use [read SAMPLENAME 0 -1( or (the shorter equivalent) [replace SAMPLENAME(, like it was in max4.
it's all written in the reference for [buffer~]

try something like this…? multiplying the rate by a toggle so it’s either zero or what you last set it to…
[this is hastily scraped together so it's just a start]

thank you, yes bondo makes it look smarter.
and also, apologies for the Buffer question, I will reed the reference. I just thought what worked in max4 will work in the same way in max5. best, K
