-12 dB Magnitude Labels wrong in Plot Help Spectral Example?

April 18, 2012 | 1:53 pm

Is it me, or this plot example is wrongly labeled > -12dB decrements instead of -6dB. ??

I have relabeled it in 6dB decrements and this seems to appropriately match the curve of the Onepole~ of -6db / Octave, or for instance, the range of Gain object controlling level fed into the fft analyzer.

Txs, any feedback appreciated…

I have noticed a similar misbehaviour and I am very interested in finding out hwo to fix it.
I attach a picture of what happens with some white noise and the plot~ obiect as it is configured in the help patch.

Thanks in advance for your replies!

Please, isn’t anyone worried about this?
I mean, of course is hard to map the fft results on a dB scale in an univocal way but, since people from Cycling74 have given us these great spectral features of the plot~ object… wouldn’t it be fundamental to preserve, at least, relative proportions? Please take a look at the picture above and let me know where did I go wrong.
If it is not my mistake, I’m afraid this may turn out to be a meaningless and confusing feature.

Thanks everybody
