On a Laptop I use The Blackmagic Ultrastudio Mini via thunderbolt.

Yes, have dropped Matrox altogether - Blackmagic Ultrastudio Mini capture is perfect for a MBPro. I actually use Black Syphon as my capture app, then ship frames into Jitter via the Syphon bus. Works very reliably for me.
