maybe because you reset and count to 1 at the same time. (with signals there's no right to left order).O.

I've logged a note to think about this more deeply, but basically what's happening is that Max's plusequals~ reset the count and increment it afterward, while gen~ just reset the count. The patch bellow show the difference of calculation in gen~.
