adc~ also for digital input?

May 18, 2006 | 9:18 am

I’m a bit new to Max/MSP. I want to use the spdif input from my MOTU 828 but the only audio input object I know is adc~ that stands for "analog to digital converter", right?

So my question is if I need to use adc~ with a spdif input even when no analog to digital conversion is actually needed. Is there any other object to handle digital signal inputs?

Thanks

Right, but it’s just a historical name. [adc~] can feed audio from
any of the 828′s inputs, be they analogue line, mic, S/PDIF or
lightpipe. Similarly, [dac~] can address any of the outputs.

Look at the DSP Status window – you’ll see a twenty or so ins and
outs for your device.
