adding a "handle" to gl.camera

December 1, 2011 | 7:28 pm

I’d like to manipulate my jit.gl.camera ala a "maya" style manipulator.
This is just to facilitate working.

I’m probably looking in the wrong place but I can’t seem to find any guidance on how to do this.

thanks

you probably want to make use of the viewport attribute of gl.camera, so you can have one camera/viewport to manipulate the view or another camera/viewport.

you can use a separate gl object to visualize the camera.

you can really only interact with the handle in the other viewport (not the viewport of the camera that you are controlling), otherwise weird things happen.

see if this patch get’s you started:

Robert, your patch is deadly to my Max 6.0.1 on Windows. If I choose New from Clipboard, Max 6 crashes. If I create a new patcher and the paste it into it, I get very very strange errors in the Max window and the patcher is a mess. I’ll open a support case on this. FYI, the errors in max window are:

trying to use glproctable while either context or proctable is invalid. using global proctable
jit.gl: invalid extension called
jit.gl.pbuffer: error creating pixel format: GL Error: Invalid operation
jit.gl.pbuffer: unable to get a valid pixel format!

I have Max 6.04 and I’ve been getting the same messages. Is there any fix for this? Thanks

i run 6.0.5 on Win7 x64 and also got the errors:

trying to use glproctable while either context or proctable is invalid. using global proctable
jit.gl: invalid extension called
jit.gl.pbuffer: error creating pixel format: GL Error: Invalid operation
jit.gl.pbuffer: unable to get a valid pixel format!

any ideas why?
