Adding effects to a WAV

Hi,
I want to add different effects such as reverberation or chorus to my wav files. Is there any effects units in max msp or can anyone suggest an object that might be involved so I can look at the help files.

Many thanks,
Carl

Sorry I forgot it needs to be programmed into max msp rather then using anything external

Hi Carl,

If all you want to do is add effect processing to existing
soundfiles, there are simpler and more time-efficient methods to
accomplish this. Any decent audio recorder/mixer/editor program
(including numerous freeware & shareware applications) will support
some sort of plugin or other processing format.

On the other hand, if what you want is to dynamically and/or
algorithmically control the processing in real-time or build your own
effects processors, then MaxMSP is a great way to do so. There are
the basic building blocks for reverbs, delays, filters, etc.,
available in the standard distribution, and numerous 3rd party
objects with more fully-developed capabilities. Search the forum
archives for relevant topics for numerous ideas and patches.

A couple other suggestions:

1) Work through and run the MSP tutorials, particularly those dealing
with processing (#25-31)
2) Look up all the objects in these tutorials in the MSP reference
manual to get familiar with how they work and how to use them
3) Build a few simple processors of your own that you can save as
abstractions and use in other patches
4) Have a look at maxobjects.com for a plethora of processing objects
& abstractions
5) Look at the vst/au implementations within MaxMSP (check the
reference manual) to use processing plugins directly within MaxMSP

Good luck, and have fun.
