adding in quotation marks

hey chaps,

i’ve created a patch in which you can drop a file into the dropfile object and then using appends and prepends it opens a particular file within that folder and plays it through sfplay. now i am working on pc and i understand that for this to work on a mac i need quotation marks before and after the file name due to the file being out of the folder on the same level as the patch…

so does anyone know how i can put quotation marks before the filename and after it? i guess some sort of prepend and append but not too sure how to do it as my attempts have been in vane.

cheers,
dave

maybe gary lee nelson could lend you his “tosymbol” object that he
won’t need for his patch posted in the other thread…

i believe that has more to do with spaces that may appear within
filenames, which would make max think you’re sending multiple messages!
