adoutput~ problems

October 25, 2006 | 6:09 pm

Hey everyone, I’ve been having an issue with adoutput~ and I dont know if
it’s simply the way the object works or an actual problem. I’ve been trying
to record some movie dialog from a DVD playing on my computer. The sound is
coming out of the main 1-2 channels on my sound card, but when I try and get
adoutput~ to output that signal into max, it just doesnt do it. adoutput~
has no problem handling audio that max is putting out, but it wont recognize
audio that other programs on my computer are outputting.

Is this just a feature of the object, or is it a bug/sound card issue?

thanks,
nic

perhaps something like soundflower from the cycling74 site is needed to
route the adio from one application to another. It’s a free download.

Not related to the adouput~ issue, but if you want to
extract audio from a DVD, I’d suggest you have a look
at Mpeg Streamclip, which is a free download from
http://www.squared5.com/ . It’s available for both Mac OS and
Windows,
cheers
