hello,
does [adsr~] require a minimum number of non-zero samples to trigger an envelope?

to reproduce: turn on audio in example patch
expecting envelopes
result none
regression: attempted changing vector sizes
platform: winxp
maxMsp v.4.5.7

example:

ok; figured it out.
should’ve drank coffee before posting.

my example had the sustain set at 0, and to acheive the desired effect i was looking for, it would have to be set at 1.

re: a signal into [adsr~]‘s left inlet, a spike will only trigger your attack for a sample’s length of time, rather than initiating an env to carry out its entire function… you can workaround this by something like [adsr~ 0 0 1. 600] for a decay-env.
it’ll click, but it works ;)

hope this is helpful to someone…
sorry for the wasted bandwidth.

my solution is a short nap for 5-10 minutes, will accelerate thinking by
a factor of 100 at least… (I hate coffee… ;-)

Thanks for sharing the solution, even if you thought afterwards it was
simple….

the best way (what airline pilots do) is to drink the coffe, then go to sleep immediately for 25 minutes. then you wake up as the caffeine kicks in = super alert!
