aka.wiiremote IR workaround for OS X

December 3, 2007 | 8:23 pm

for others not able to get IR data working with the aka.wiiremote
object:

in order to get around the limitations of the [aka.wiiremote] object
not being able to track IR on a G4 laptop
I DL’d and set up OSCulator (OS X only)

http://www.osculator.net/wiki/Main/Download

the OSCulator app sends data on port 8000 (default)
which I pick up with:

[udpreceive 8000]->[OpenSoundControl]->[strtok /]->[sprintf]

I’m still working on building out the patch to massage the list data
but this has been slow-going since being on the road and busy with
other non-Max programming projects for most of this year has left my
Max skills somewhat rusted

so I’m still poking at the sprintf object trying to format incoming
string data

**[BTW: it would SO handy if someone would put together a
comprehensive .help file and/or a rigorous online tutorial for the
sprintf object]

but I’ve done some preliminary testing using two candles and a wii
remote
controlling a pictslider knob with IR data
and it seems to work well

hope this helps someone

Cheers!

Download the CNMAT Max/MSP/Jitter Depot here:

http://www.cnmat.berkeley.edu/MAX/downloads/

And look for "expr+sprintf-horrible-truth.pat" and "sprintf-tutor.mxb". They are both in /mmjdepot/tutors/. That’s most of what I know about sprintf. Please make suggestions for improvements.

Have you looked at the sprintf man page?
