I have some externals whose name should differ from the respective file name. I have class_setname() in main(), and I have an objectmapping.txt file in the init folder.

Everything works, except that the names don’t show up in the autocompletion menu in Max – if I start typing the file name it appears, but I’d want my “alias” name to appear, and it doesn’t. But if I type the entire “alias” name, it is recognized and works properly.

I have also tried to reset the database with ;max db.reset, but it didn’t help.

What am I forgetting?

Two other clues:

- the hr objects by JKC fail to show the correct autocompletion, too (I’m talking of the objects whose name doesn’t match the file name, of course)

- I get the same behavior in Windows (I could expect it, but one never knows)

If you take a look at C74:/init/database.txt you should see some lines like this:

max db.addvirtual alias +~ plus~;

You will want to do this too, and then it should work.
