analog video in

January 26, 2006 | 8:42 pm

hello,
can i use analogique video input with jitter. i know it works with usb or
firewire, but i’m not so happy with resolution, so i’d rather use a mini
analog cam….is that possible, if yes with what object.
thanx for any help

Same object as with usb or firewire, kranky. jit.qt.grab/jit.dx.grab
(Windows only) is your friend here, assuming that you have a video
card with an analog input.

Thanx for the answer jb, i was hoping for such a solution…
if i used a web cam…what brand should i get for best resolution…i know
some are not compatible with open GL…i tried the Winvdig, the free one,
and only got colored lines, so i bought the vdig and now it works when i use
the mini dv camera but the image quality is not good.
i use win XP.
even if i insert the resolution 720×576 in jit.qt.grab , and in jit.pwindow,
the resolution is shit.
i will try with mini analog cam that i just ordered and should receive
soon…(resolution 640×480)

i’m still looking for a larger image with live input…any suggestion?
thanx

with a dtop, you can get a digitizer card. I have a Radeon All In
Wonder (AIW) 9800 and it is pretty decent, though it has high latency.
There are a ton of PVR (personal video recorder) and security video
digitizers out there, some more suitable than others, probably. For
the mac, I recently got a Miglia card, and it has very low latency.
It’s mac only, but maybe some research would turn up the chipset they
use, and there might be a windows compatible card like it.

use jit.qx.grab, and then you dont’ have to deal w/ vdig or whatever.

peter.

The miglia works really great, but if make sure you haven’t one of
the new G5 with PCI-Express inside, the alchemy TV is only PCI-X, at
least for now.

Best,
ej

i bought one that is PCI. maybe it’s discontinued, but they are still
out there! but yes, be sure of what you are buying.

Don’t know if offering items for sale is discouraged on this board,
but I have an extra Miglia PCI card that I’d be happy to sell cheap.
I tried to run 2 of them with a powerbook and a Magma 2 slot
expansion chassis but could never get the system to boot consistently
(lots of kernel panics) and I stupidly threw away the receipt and
packaging. One of the cards in Magma chassis works well though and
two in a tower also works.

Anyone interested let me know: pgreyson@pacbell.net.
