						<p>Hello!<br />
I am new in MaxMSP and I want to create a patch that is to be used for frequency analysis of an audio file. I want to analyse the file in 8 discrete bands and to be able to change those bands. I know that the &#8220;analyser&#8221; object will help me but although I have read the help file I don&#8217;t know what to do.  Could you give me any advise?</p>

						<p>It looks to me (after a brief inspection of the [analyzer~] object) that the frequency graph it outputs is just a bark frequency analysis.  You might want to check out the ZSA.Descriptors package by EJ ( <a href="http://www.e&#8211;j.com/?page_id=83" rel="nofollow">http://www.e&#8211;j.com/?page_id=83</a> ) &#8211; it&#8217;s very, very handy for this sort of thing, though it may not give you exactly what you&#8217;re looking for.</p>
<p>You&#8217;ll likely want to do the FFT tutorials if you haven&#8217;t already done them, as you may have to roll your own solution, in which case you are going to need to use [pfft~] and a whole bunch of math.</p>
