Kevin Shea Adams

I've been crashing a lot lately and these two objects are the main ones that I suspect. I know that there may be an optimal DSP setting for the FFT analysis that analyzer~ does but right now I just keep everything standard - sig vector size at 64 and i/o buffer at 512 and it crashes often and hard (have to force quit max, sometimes my computer just shuts off!). I have the analyzer object also just set to the defaults in the help file:

analyzer~ 2048 512 4096 blackman70 0 1 10 3 list

Any thoughts or have other people had these experiences? Is fiddle more stable?

I've replaced analyzer~ with fiddle~ and so far it seems more stable. I seem to remember analyzer~ being pretty flaky in the past, can anyone confirm that it is still a bit shaky even in max5? It would be nice to have for example noisiness and brightness measures but as of right now I am having a tough time trusting this object. I'm on Max 5.0.2 on Leopard, although i had the same problem on tiger.

I haven't had this experience yet, but I'll look into it. Are you using version 1.4.1, here:

I haven't had this experience yet, but I'll look into it.  Are you using version 1.4.1, here:

I've pulled it out of my patch and now everything seems stable (replaced it with fiddle~)

I've just been running analyzer~ for an hour with no issues. Can you give me any more steps to reproduce this? Maybe a patch?

I've just emailed you a patch via the address on your website. It tends to run for a while before it crashes, sometimes 10 minutes sometimes 45, but eventually it does.
