anyone else having problems with buffer~?

June 17, 2008 | 5:32 pm

hi yall,

I am no longer running v4.6, since installing v5 broke it on my machine,
but now I may need to downgrade for a while.
I can’t seem to get buffer~ to cooporate – it crashes max HARD when
attempting to load sounds in.

Steps to reproduce: read message -> buffer~ , then load file in. Boom. Dead.

Am I the only one seeing this problem?
Andreas
PS sorry for any crosspostings.. I B a lil’ desp’rait.

I run both with no problems. When I first installed 5 I added some file paths that had 4.6 externals in them and things went haywire. After removing those paths and keeping things nice and separate (opening old 4.6 abstractions in 5 and resaving them with a new .maxpat name in a new place for instance) both run just fine on my machine (PPC G4 OSX.4.11).

Does it work with "replace" instead of "read"? Is this the same with 16bit, 24bit, 44.1kHz, 48kHz, stereo, mono, AIFF, WAV, etc etc?

buffer~ works great for me in 5.0.2 on OSX.
