application ui focus

Hi,

don’t know whether this is a known problem:

when I make an application in max, and if the application opens a
window of its own, like a jit.window (apart from the status and main
patcher window), then I have trouble to activate it on my desktop.
Somehow it’s hard to pin it down, but what happens is that I click on
a window of the application-made-with-max/msp, but the window does
not come to front and keyboard focus stays with the previous
application I was working in. Sometimes in this limbo the window of
my application-made-with-max/msp does seem to react to mouse clicks,
sometimes not. The only way to properly activate my application-made-
with-max/msp is to go in the Dock and select the main window of my
application there.

Does this sound familiar or should I investigate and try to isolate
the problem more ?
It gets annoying because I use several different applications I made
with max, and I switch between them and quicktime viewer, final cut
etc all the time…

mac OS 10.4.8 on a 2x 2.66 Ghz mac Pro
maxmsp 4.6.2 jitter 1.6.3b1

ciao,

Joost.

It sounds like the “all winows active” flag is set. Are you able to
bring the window to the front if you click on the window bar?
