Anyone know why arpeggiator notes being sent into a patch don’t arpeggiate? I’m using them as noteins and then doing an mtof to create audio. But, only one note gets sent no matter what I press… no arpeggiation. Something to do with the note-offs? Do I need to stripnote or something?

It would be so great to have arpeggiation going so I could just tweak filters and such on the sequence in real-time. Also to use with regular General MIDI patches in Max.

Thanks!

Hi, Seejay,

Can you send the patch you’re trying to use? It sounds like a poly~
without voice-stealing, maybe? (and this is a mono-synth?) Can you
see the arpeggiated notes coming into a notein?

Thanks for the quick reply. I’m sending a basic test patch because I just need to get the arpeggiation working (the real patch is overly complicated for this question).

The synth is polyphonic (Korg DW-8000). I can see the notes, but only the latest ones, depending on when I release them. They don’t come in arpeggiated, they just come in as I press them. I do know I need some more expertise with poly to figure all this out. I think the arpeggiation does something screwy—maybe doesn’t send note-offs or something… so the notein can’t read the stream.

Are you sure that the Korg DW-8000 even sends the arpeggiated notes?
Some synths place the arpeggiator on the voice side of things, and
not the MIDI control side of things.

If you play a chord into the DW-8000 from an external source, with
the arpeggiator on, does it play a chord or an arpeggio?

Without seing your patch I’d say yes, but with that suspicion, did you
try it? (I mean before you posted? (always recommended, most questions
answer themself with trial and error in Max faster than writing an
e-mail…))
