The Interdisciplinary Arts and Performance Department at Arizona State University invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor of 2D-3D Visual Art/New Media. Arizona State University is the largest public university in the United States and ranks among the top 100 universities in the world. Its research is inspired by real world application, blurring the boundaries that traditionally separate academic disciplines. The Interdisciplinary Arts and Performance (IAP) degree program is the only one of its kind in the southwest. This unique program incorporates a variety of media in the arts world. Majors take course work in Digital Media Arts, Music and Electronic Sound Art, Performance Studies, Performance Arts, Digital Graphics and Visual Arts.
Responsibilities: Incumbent will develop and teach classes in 2D/3D media and design, computer-based art and installation practices to lower and upper division students. Areas of expertise may include, but are not limited to, installation art/performance, 3D modeling and animation (Maya, Blender, etc.), and interactive design (Flash, Max/MSP/Jitter, etc.). The incumbent will maintain a balanced schedule of teaching, service, and creative or research activity.
Required Qualifications: Terminal Degree in 2D/3D Visual Art, New Media, Emerging Technologies, Design & Media, OR international recognition as a leading visual artist.
Preferred Qualifications: Two years of full time college/university teaching. Evidence of research/creative work in collaborative/interdisciplinary arts creation that incorporates visual art with new media methods and materials. Evidence of the ability to teach a wide range of visual arts courses from fundamentals to advanced levels.
