ASIO control of soundcard?

Hi all,

I am considering soundcard purchases, with an eye on a 828 mkII which a mate
could sell to me at an excellent price.

the card has aux sends on it that are controlled by a bundled piece of
software which is basically a virtual mixingboard (called cuemix). I
emailed MOTU tech support to see whether the aux sends could be automated by
software other than cuemix and this was the response:

CueMix can be controlled via ASIO software such as Cubase or Nuendo.
As far as I know, MAX/MSP can not do this.

is he right? or can max/msp do this kind of thing?

thanks,
George

Hi!

i have one MOTU 896 and the max works well.

the drivers are the same to!

so you can use [DAC~ 1 2] [DAC~ 3 4] [DAC~ 5 6] [DAC~ 7 8] or [DAC~ 3 7] or anything to choose the output channel!

in my patches i can use all 8 outputs and all 8 inputs at the same time… no problem at 64 samples.

But don’t take the risk… ask to your friend to ??borow?? the audio card and try in your PC or MAC. or download the max demo and try on his! :)

but you probably don’t have any problem to use the card.

the cue mix console uses software to calculate the amplitude of the signal like [*~ ] object.

In my PC the cuemix software don’t work and i don’t miss it.

the card works any way!

Sory my English!

I am not familiar with any DSP functions on the motu MKII. I know RME and EMU cards have DSP stuff which can be automated via MIDI.

thanks for the info, i’ve decided to buy the card sans determinate knowledge
on this issue. i’ll let you know what i figure out, although it may be a
little while between now and when i actually get the card. nevertheless,
anybody who has experience with this plz do let us know!

Regards,
George
