my AU DLS synth is causing me some problems within Max

No sound output when I select it in noteout.

Noteout works fine when routed to other applications via IAC

I browsed the Forum and seems I am not the only one who has encoutered this problem .

Unfortunatly no clear ansewers were ever given.

Some one said (maybe delete the midi@augraph.txt file from my MAX preference ) which I did , but this has not resolved anything yet.

I too have noticed problems with the AU DSL synth. For me it works fine everywhere (Max included) under the user I installed Max (my work only user) but on the other user account the DSL synth does not work in Max 4.6.3 or 5.0.1. I also tried deleting the midi@augraph.txt from the problem user's preference folders but this made no difference. I am on OSX 10.5.2. I just noticed this so am not sure when it first surfaced for me.

I too have noticed problems with the AU DSL synth. I have the same symptoms. I can't get any note to sound from Max to AU Synth.

Other softwares can, config in MaxMSP looks ok but no note comes out of the MIDItester patch (or any other patch).

Does someone got the solution to this problem ?

Last time I had it, I had no time to find something but reinstalling Max !

More than 1 year ago, with other software and OS versions, I also had a silent AU synth. I trashed the midi@augraph.txt preference file and then it worked again.

This was mentionned in the previous posts and I tried but it didn't work for me...

I know it was mentioned, but always in a negative way, so I wanted to say it could work too. I know this may sound obvious, but are you sure the volume of the AU synth, i.e. controller 7, is not set to 0 ? I suppose it isn't as the synth work from oher hosts...

To check #7 controller is a very good idea I had not. But unfortunately, it did not change anything.

Since 5.x, I've had to do that in order to get sound output using AU DLS. I seem to remember even needing in the past to restart Max after doing this, but I can't reproduce now. Simply decreasing vec sizes does the trick for me.

Indeed, if you have a i/o Vector Size > 1024, AU DLS Synth doesn't work. But as soon as you change it, it works again.

This looks as a very strange bug to me as I can't really understand how the i/o vector size should interfere with a MIDI synth but hopefully, someone inside Cycling'74 does.

Guys, I got the problem with the AU DLS synth solved by doing a clean installation of the latest version of Max and trashing the previous version and the Max 5 Preferences folder. Thanks a lot to Ben @Cycling!

I've tried finding the file that you guys said, thought I found it and deleted it, and now AU DLS synth is no longer even an available option. Either I got the wrong file, or I'm just very bad at this. Anybody able to just list the path to this file? Also, I'm going to try a fresh install with the preferences gone, but this is the first version of Max I have installed on my computer, and it didn't work straight from the get go.

I actually don't have any of the files in my preferences that people say to trash. So, I don't see any reason why this won't work. I'm going somewhat nuts.
