Audio Input in max

Hi,

I’am a bit of a novice in max – is there an object for an audio input, i.e. a microphone input or line-in in max?

I realise this is a simple question, but as such i havent the time to sift through a load of tutorials when i can get a quick answer on here so please don’t bite my head off! I’am under a deadline!

Thanks,
Chris.

Look for MSP tutorials that have the word “record” in the file name.

cheers for this quick response – hypothectically speaking, how could i create multiple inputs for several microphones, in a similar way to a mixing desk with independent channels?

To explain easier, how i could i have multiple microphones with each having their own adc~ objects?

ALT + click on the adc~ object, it’ll explain how to use a channel numbers
in the arguments to take multiple inputs

thanks for that – iam not sure you entirely knew what i meant though, i’ve set up a 5 channel argument and it outputs from the adc~. What i need is to have a seperate channel for each microphone, from the looks of things the argument option with adc~ will take one microphones audio feed and split it up into multiple channels?

any suggestions for multiple microphone inputs, each with their own individual channel?

Re-read the help patch and the manual entry for [adc~].

I can’t stress how much time you’ll save by reading the manual and
trying things out for yourself before posting to the forum with
questions you can easily answer for yourself. You’ll find folks much
more responsive if you at least read the associated manual pages first.

In short, the multiple outlets of [adc~] correspond to separate
inputs on whatever hardware audio interface you are using – hence the
ability to use multiple independent input channels, each with its own
signal source.

To get your quick answer you needed more than two hours. Just doing the
tutorials and reading the docs would have been much faster. Its not as
hard as you believe, you lost almost two hours, and that under a
deadline, too bad…
