Hello,
I am trying to create a very simple patch in which when someone talks in to a microphone it triggers a video to play. However the way the patch is working right now is that the signal has to be constant for the video to be playing, but I just need the participant to say one word and the video to start.
What should I use as the audio input in max to do this, I have no clue. Does anyone out there know?
Thanks!
Jen

you can just connect adc~ to a peakamp~ object setted on a volume
threshold
and that’s it: you’ll get an amplitude change due to the spoken word
into the microphone.
What do you mean with ” the signal has to be constant”?

Are you sure this works? How could you make peakamp~ work without audio
being switched on? (I am sure it doesn’t ;-)

Jen, follow the logic, you need a bang, or a 1 to start the movie, once
its started, you don’t want it to trigger anymore, and you don’t want it
to stop. You didn’t paste a patch into your mail, so I guess you
translate the level of audio directly to control on/off of the movie –
put a [select 1] behind that… and the other 1001 possibilties to solve
such problems will be easy to find after you went through all the
tutorials….

i guess that if the audio is always on
as the mic is plugged in,
then you put a threshhold level
that is higher than noise/rumors level but lower than
the spoken word volume.

this is not the best solution but it might be the max objects’ area
where you need
to point to and search a bit.

just that :-)
