authorization woes

I post this in public because A: its not completely a C74 thing and
B: someone might have had the problem before.

my current situation

I own max msp and
jitter!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!
!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

max and msp work fine. jitter *claims* its past its trial period.
I have a response which *claims* to have worked when I enter it.

if I let the start up go with out holding down cmd/ctrl a pace
window comes up for jitter which gives me the following 3 pseudo
options:

“try” which is greyed out,
“buy” which is greyed out
and quit.

clicking quit starts up max/msp and gives me a “jitter trial is over,
your an ass, the PACE mascot/dog is raping your grandmother RIGHT
NOW!” message.

this problem has persisted through a drive reformat, os reinstall,
max/msp reinstall, pace reinstall and a jitter reinstall.

I’m on OS10.4.4 1.33 GHz PowerPC G4

it’s been months since I last tried to address this problem. but to
be honest, if it’s going to be like this indefinitely I’d like to see
c74 to hit pace up for some cash to give to me. because the only
working part of jitter is jit.cellblock

Hi Matthew,
You may need to delete the j-offer file to access the authorization
screen. Please take this type of issue up at support@cycling74.com,
where we can look at the problem in greater depth than we can in a
public forum.

Cheers,
Andrew B.

This sounds like an artifact of the library we use for our trial
period occasionally not working properly (unfortunately, we have not
been able to determine the precise conditions why it fails). The
typical fix is to search for files on your HD containing the string
“j-offer” on your HD and throw them in the trash. If your problem
persists, please contact support@cycling74.com, and they can help you
with your authorization.

Sorry to hear about your grandmother. I appreciate your frustration,
but perhaps we didn’t need to know these details.
