I'm new to Max, and taking on a hearty task here. I'm versed in Processing and I have a good grasp on how Max should function, but finding the right objects is tasking me. And with my deadline, I need some help!

I want to have a two video projection of the same projection. Projection 1 plays and loops normally, while the second projection needs to "divide" itself and loop. Realy, the second projection just needs to be told to start at a different time (or frame) and play till its end, and then loop normally, since that'll create the necessary offset.

I have so far gotten the jitter routing to record and begin playback of the two videos simultaneously, which is should do for a few loops before it starts offsetting video 2.

So, I'm looking for some ideas/references on setting the offset points either during the recording of the video, or having the offset points figured out during the first/simultaneous playbacks. This is based on audio, so something like peaks in volume?

Second task will be storing that information, and using it to actually offset the second projection. I'm not sure if some object can be an "array" for this, or if writing to .txt and then retrieving frame numbers/time markers would be the best, or even really what objects to use...

after starting the videos, you can have [timer] track how long things are going, and use [snapshot~] to determine the audio levels...use a [>~] to make a conditional/threshold.

you can store the offset times in a number of ways, [coll] or [text] would work fine, or you can collect into a list with [zl group]. Just depends on how you want to store and recall them, they each have pros and cons. [coll] and [text] can easily be saved as text files, so maybe that's the way to go...?

The jit.matrix is naturally useful for storing (arbitrary) arrays and you can read and write files directly. About the only "limitation" is that all your arrays will need to use the same data type (ie char, int or float) to be stored by the same matrix.
