I’m pleased to announce the re-release the Auvi objects for Jitter:
now updated for Max 5, and now available FREE OF CHARGE.

Download here:

http://www.auvi-software.com

Auvi for Jitter is a collection of 83 objects for Jitter.
They are well-suited for live video performance.
The were designed to be very simple to use, and are optimized
to deliver very good frame rates.

The features of Auvi I personally find most useful are:
– compositing (same blending modes as Adobe software)
– internal LFOs, for automatic dynamic control of all parameters
– wet/dry mix of effected image
– objects do something interesting right out-of-the-box

Auvi was formerly sold commercially.
It languished for a few years, but now it is back for anyone who is interested.

I have very limited time to offer for support and upgrades for this software;
perhaps the community can contribute its help.

I hope you find the software to be useful and enjoyable.

It seems there may be a problem with the Auvi installer.

Could you look into (root)/Library/Frameworks and see if there is a folder called “Auvi_API.framework” ?

Hi Kurt,

Thanx for sharing this great library. However, I have the same problem with the au.aura object mentioned before. I run 10.5.8 on max 5.1.4.

Also not every message object is connected in the AUVI overview. The overview is also located in the help folder instead of the extra folder which makes more sense I think.

Still, a great library!!!!

Indeed. I started the v001 shaders initially once AUVI was pretty much considered finished. While its no where near as polished as AUVI is (nor does it provide all of the functionality), seeing how AUVI did some of its special secret sauce would be amazingly enlightening. I’d love to get some insight, but having it working again is very nice. Time to re-discover some old performance patches :)

I also like the idea of a shader-based Auvi….but the reality is that currently, I just don’t have the time to build something like that. When I wrote Auvi, shaders were not yet an option; Auvi is the result of me trying to get absolute maximum graphics performance out of the CPU only.

I re-released Auvi because it may be useful as-is, as legacy software. Auvi was designed with an attitude of sympathy towards beginners. Even now, Auvi can be a lot of fun for those who are less technically advanced — for example, those who don’t want to mess about with shaders and GL. I like to think of Max as a haven for artists whose needs aren’t met by standard software. Auvi was my attempt to increase the fun-factor for these newcomers.
