AUVI sensor dance

This was a performance at the miami Museum of Contemporary art, where we (Jiae Hwang and myself) hooked a dancer, Ana Mendez up to various sensors and mapped her movement to audio and visual systems I made with max/msp Jitter. I think the result is pretty promising concidering we only had a week to put together this version of the performance and now we have been refining the technology for months and will be pitching it to more art institutions with far more refined process. The name of our performance group is “Kinetic Aesthetic Research Foundation” and the video can be found here.

Feel free to view my other work on my site, as I do plenty of things you may find interesting.

Id love to here questions and comments. We used the AUVI objects for this (which I love, so smooth) though the next version might be more OpenGL on new intel macbook pros. (unless auvi goes UB)

Ive spoken a bit with Kurt a while ago about this and he has stated
(unofficially to me), that there will be no update. I have no idea
what his current mindset is however.

I would highly recommend that you email him (and others to do so),
that you want an update. I would love an update to AUVI for Intel. I
think Kurt fears there isnt enough time/energy for the investment in
AUVIto be worthwhile. Perhaps he is right, but it wouldnt hurt to ask!

the last i heard from kurt is that it is on his to-do list but that
he is very busy with work and family and has no idea when he will get
to it.

I too miss the AUVI objects. I pestered Kurt about it at one point, and my impression is that they will turn up some day. Here’s hoping he doesn’t give up on them.

They are truely amazing objects, and I love them with all my abstract visual heart. They are so smooth and clean and seem to run very efficiently. I can probably get about 2 auvi objects runnign in the cpu space of 1 jitter object that does the same thing, plus you get the awesome built in feedback and mix controlls. I would be deeply saddened to not see them updated. I would happily pay for an update.
