AUVI?

February 8, 2008 | 5:01 pm

I have been waiting/hoping that AUVI would update to Intel but needed it for
a project. I fired up an old G5 where I have installed it but the key no
longer works. I used their DoChallenge app which sent a message to them but
that message has been cued for several days. Are they dead and gone?

I would email Kurt Ralske directly, you can find his email at http://retnull.com/info.html

:)

February 8, 2008 | 7:10 pm

Kurt must have seen my post. He sent me something that works in 4.5 but not
on 4.6.

February 8, 2008 | 7:50 pm

afaik, kurt’s teaching job in boston and his new family have made
updating auvi a low priority. possibly if a bunch of us banded
together and threw some money at him, or if someone offered to do the
port to UB…. i for one would sure love to have my auvi back….

Ive asked him that as well, but it would not hurt. Ive asked if he
would open source it too, so we could do some shader ports and UB/
Windows ports.

Oh well :)

February 8, 2008 | 10:39 pm

If it’s going to be such a burden to port, it should be open sourced.
Otherwise, it’s probably never going to get done.

i pledge $30 USD towards the project. i suspect that if we get 25
people who do the same, kurt might consider working on it a bit.

i’d be delighted

could anyone please explain the benefits of AUVI for a non-mac, opengl-era
jitter user?

Might take more than 25, but count me on the list of auvi owners who
would enjoy a return to those built-in feedback goodies. I would also
understand if the texture of Kurt’s home life and academic responsibilities
were such that even this princely sum were not enough. First things
first.

another one…
(not biting the dust i hope :) )

April 20, 2008 | 1:52 pm

Im also in, love these objects, best jitter effects out there, I will be deeply saddened if they never get ported, Id be willing to pay a fair ammount for an upgrade, and certainly throw 30 bux just into getting the ball rolling!

April 20, 2008 | 1:52 pm

oh yeah so how do we go about doing that?

April 26, 2008 | 8:07 am

Im really serious about this one, I love these objects so much and will be pained if they disappear with my G5 into the abyss. They are too good to just let fall into oblivion.

April 27, 2008 | 4:25 am

Ive mentioned this thread to Kurt a few times, and have not gotten any response.

As much as I hate to say it I think this is falling on deaf ears :(

seriously bump bump!!! Im all about these dont want this to fall into the abyss!!!!!!!!

Hell if Kurt isn’t interested he should pass them on to someone who is, heck I think there good enough (or even better) then the jitter objects, I think c74 should license them, update and make them part of the main jitter distro!!!

July 11, 2008 | 6:12 pm

I’d pay for an upgrade, and definitely count me in for $30.

I agree, though – Kurt is very busy these days and may not have the time to upgrade them for any amount of money. Would C74 consider licensing them?

They are so good.
