I am having trouble with jit.gf.model and rotatexyz. I would like to control the pitch, roll, and yaw of a head model, so that rotations occur around the x y and z axes respectively (red, green and blue in attached patch).

I have setup two scenarios. Scenario 1 shows that when the head is facing in one direction the the Roll rotations around the y (green) axis works as expected, this is also true for the other two axes. However in Scenario 2, the Yaw and Pitch rotations continue to work, but the Roll rotations occur around the x (red) axis and not the y axis therefore this is identical to Pitch rotation,

Can anyone help with this? it is driving me crazy.

Note that the Head.dae model needs to be located in the same folder as the patch.

this is what's known as gimbal lock. google it for more info.

you can change the order with which euler rotations are applied, with the gl.render @rotate_order attribute. check the reference on that attribute for more info.

if you want to perform rotations around object local axes, you have to use jit.anim.node @turnmode local (or animmode local)
