This must be very simple but i am slightly perplexed.

If i have 2 streams of data, each stream either being a 1 or a 2, then there are only four combinations i can have, 1+1, 1+2, 2+1, 2+2. How can i get max to tell me which combination i have? I used [if] objects but then i can only get 'the left side is less than', 'the left side is greater than' or 'left and right are equal', however i need to know the difference between 1+1 and 2+2 as well as less than and greater than.

When you say "streams," what do you mean? if the numbers come in freely, do you want results whenever either side changes?

At any rate, I would probably add some number to one of the sides, then add.

Or sprintf or combine, or... Lots of ways to approach things.

Pizza_olives, the method you recommend is perfect.

Here is the patch Chris, the quiet/loud and the low/high sections were what i was trying to get combinations of.
