Beginner question regarding Lists and Number Boxes

Hello everybody.

I’m just starting with max and doing the tutorials ans I haven’t really gotten far but I have a question and I need it to be answered because it would bother me not to know when in the later tutorials it would be explained.

I’m doing the Numbers and Lists tutorial right now. I understand that a variable such as $1 can be manipulated by a number box. But how can two variables in one message box be manipulated by two number boxes ? I’ve tried patching two number boxes directly to a message box with two variables but that didn’t work. My second guess was to create two number boxes, patch each to a message box with one variable and then send those two message boxes into an other message box with two variables but that didn’t work either.

Can anyone help me here ?

Look at pak or pack to combine multiple elements into a list.
