I just downloaded MaxMSP for Windows XP and am trying to work through the tutorials that are provided by Cycling74. While the basics of Max are very well explained, I am having a heck of a time trying to get it working with a midi device. Part of my problem is that I don’t have an external midi device to use. I am wondering if anyone can point me to a software midi keyboard, or some other way to send midi signals to MaxMSP, so that I can continue with the tut’s (I am currently on #12). Am I barking up the wrong tree and do I need to go out and buy a midi keyboard, or somethin like that?

Also, if anyone could point me towards any more beginner recources, I would be forever thankful.

Thanks!

you could install midiyoke and use a pianoroll to send midi data to max via a sequencer application such as Cubase.
