Hi – I have created a runtime max patch for an artist’s installation. There are no inputs and 5 channels out. I will be using a firebox interface.

In the past, I have used mac minis to run installations, but this artist wants to know if a notebook or ipad can run a max patch with interface.

Any suggestions?

Thanks,
John

iPad, no. Notebook, yes. But which one really depends on what your patch is doing…

It’s a fairly simple patch that plays text randomly over 5 speakers. It will run continuously.

should definitely work on a notebook.
of course, if it’s needed, it’s no problem to create an interface for the ipad connected via wifi to a mac mini doing the actual processing.
ipad apps for interface:

Text as in audio samples? 5 of them at a time? Pretty much any computer built in the last 10 (or more) years will do that.
