Best way to randomize parameters of 16 different devices at once in M4L?

February 25, 2012 | 2:04 am

Before I spend many hours frustrating myself trying to attempt to do something that might not even be possible I need to ask:

1) I love the "Max API Device Explorer" but it is limited to only randomizing the parameters of one device. Would it be possible to build something like this that could auto-detect all the devices in the track and randomize all the parameters of each device/vst (I want to have about 16 devices running) with a simple push of a "randomize button" and without having to load 16 instances of the "device explorer"?

2) Can you use M4L to make Ableton load random devices/vst’s into a track?

Thanks!

1-It might be doable, but that’s a lot of parameters so I’m not sure about the fluidity of the process.
2-No.

1- sure, you could limit the randomization speed if you run into problems
2 – no, but you could load randomly load vsts in a m4l device with a vst~ object
