binding pattr problem

January 23, 2007 | 4:55 pm

hello

i am trying to get my head around the pattr pattrstorage sytem
i want to have alot of dials remotely connected to a pattr system. i can send them data ok by binding to each dial in turn using a pattr object, and store values in pattrstorage, but i cant work out how to get info out of the system, without alot of cabling or multiple pattr objects.

i tried making 200 instances of a poly~ object containing a pattr object , but i can’t work out how to bind them to each of the dials which are a level up from the poly~. i’m not sure if thats even a good method….

1. Create patch with 200 dials
2. make a pattrstorage object
3. double-click on the pattrstorage to get the client list window
4. instantiate an "autopattr @autoname 1" object
5. take the rest of the day off

you want an autopattr in your patch with the dials, then just name the
dials and they are exposed to pattrstorage, or can be bound to from any
pattr…
(Or in short, you don’t need 200 pattrs for 200 dials, you need only one
autopattr…)

hope that helps

ok, i got that far already though…

the problem is i want to get the information out of that pattrstorage window and send it to my outboard synth.

i could do that by connecting each dial individually to funnels and so on, but surely theres an easier way? all i want basically is to get a list of all the parameters from somewhere, so i can give each element an index and send it out to my synth

it seems pointless wiring all those dials up if i already have the data in pattrstorage.

i’m a noob at pattrstorage forgive me! i’m probably missing something obvious
