body movement sensors

December 28, 2009 | 6:07 pm

Hi there,
i’m womdering if Max works with, and where to obtain, sensors that can be placed on specific parts of the body, in order to retrace a "skeleton" of the body, and consequently the movement of the body? just like they do in high-budget films to rig 3d animations with a human’s moment…whew!
thanks all for your advice
cheers,
sve

that project uses a Vicon 3D motion capture system which is very expensive. There are some more affordable professional systems (i forgot the name), but they are still a few thousand dollars. I have seen some DIY mocap systems made with wiimotes, but i’m not sure if you can do a full body, due to the limited number of markers.

Here is a site about wiimote-based motion tracking:

Do you know Bertrand Merlier? He’s a friend of mine. He uses the eyecon system for PC with a custom sampler he made with MaxMSP.
