I create a buffer object like this [buffer~ name1] but at the time of creation I do not know how long the buffer needs to be. Can I then specify the number of channels without specifying the filename and duration?

If I send a "read" message and select a stereo file the buffer only reads one channel. How can I force it to read both channels?

you can use "replace" , it should read file as it as and updates its buffer setup . but you need to format it with message

"-1" requests resizing / positive number sets duration
