bug: G4 keyboard stops working

my config:

OS X 10.4.11
G4 PB 1.67GHz
=========
Max/MSP 4.6.3
Jitter 1.6.3
Pluggo 3.6.1
Soundflower 1.2

I have Apple Mail, Firefox, Adium and Max/MSP all open at the same time
I start a patch that’s playing back sound files via either sfplay~ or
groove~ objects
[I've experienced this bug while using either of these objects]
I’ll switch focus to say Mail or Adium and will be typing an email or
chat
when after a while the laptops keyboard stops accepting input – in
any of the open apps including Max/MSP
I still have control of the mouse
so I can shut down apps
and reboot
but the only way I can get the KBD back is to reboot

has anyone else experienced this behavior?

Kim, Is the keyboard plugged into the monior or the base unit.? The
problem you describe is what we used to get when the keyboard was
plugged into the monitor and would just go to sleep and not wake up. P

no it my G4 is a standalone powerbook laptop
I think the problem is running Adium along with Max/MSP

I’d saw this error in my system.log
Mar 5 12:58:39 kim1 diskarbitrationd[40]: SystemUIServer [90]:16907
not responding.

and apparently Adium has a bug filed on this
so I’m just shutting down Adium when working in Max and so far it
seems to have stopped this bug from occurring
