Bug report dialog+jit.qt.movie+jit.window on XP

November 21, 2006 | 10:23 am

Mmmmh, not sure where I should post this.

With the patch below I am loosing the ability to work in Max.
Can anyone repeat this on his WinXP computer?

1) Open patch
2)read in movie
3) click on button to open dialog
4) click Cancel or OK
5) Now try to do anything in Max, the mouse has no longer control and one has to hard quit Max.

WinXP, QT 7.1.3 Max4.6.2/Jitter 1.6.2 or 1.6.3b makes no difference

Thanks

Bernd

Strange, I copy-pasted your text to a new patcher while I was running other patches that were playing movies. Didn’t reload your patch, so your metro wasn’t running. When I pressed the bang to open the dialog max stopped responding, as you described, even before pressing cancel or ok. After force-quitting max and trying again (without my own patches running) I couldn’t reproduce the bug. Max 4.5.7, Jitter 1.5.2, Mac OS 10.4.8.

When I open your patch alone there is no problem apart from a metro banging a movie at a 2 ms interval. I’d use a qmetro for this and 30 ms is probably fast enough.

Greets,
Mattijs

Yes the bug only happens on Windows XP here not on OSX.

Same here on xp, also using qmetro. While writing this mail I was able to
close max the normal way, but you have to be really patient ;-)

btw: I always found jitter patches, like a lot of the help files, that use
[qmetro 2] are choking max on xp while they run fine on osx. Probably has
nothing to do with it, but I thought I’d mention anyways.
