(#P) containing not only the contents of your message box, but the  
type of object to create (a message box), x and y coordinates (80,  
139), box width (208), and font information (196617, IOW 9 point

So, the result is expected if you look under the hood. Bet it  
surprises lots of people, though!

Yes, I quickly realized that this was what happened. Still I feel that 

if Max is generally to support lists of length 256 or 255, it should 

also be possible to instantiate lists of that length using either a 

message box or loadmess. So IMHO it would be handy if the patch #p 

syntax implementation were able to deal with lists somewhat longer than 

256 to account for the extra list members added describing the object

Totday I had a trainee trying to fill a matrix of 360x1 with jit.fill (see patch below). He couldn't figure out what was wrong. At least this list issue should be mentioned in the help file of jit.fill (and probably more objects), shouldn't it?

Bug/issue report: Maximum list length for message box is 250, not 255 or 256
