Building Standalones in Jitter

January 8, 2008 | 5:13 pm

I’m working through the jitter demos and am trying to build a standalone. The instructions on p.535 of the tutorial pdf don’t tally with what’s in my Application folder. In fact, the instructuions seem to relate to Max 4.5.
Any advice?
Thanks
Gorwel

Did you change the name of the app at all?
Did you overwrite an old app with a new one? Try deleting the old
app, then re-building under a different name to a different folder?
Did you include all of the proper frameworks?

That’s most of the common issues.

Cheers
Evan

still try to make a standalone with jitter on an intel mac for a g4.

first, thank you Evan for the tips,
but nothing helped on this machine.
(all frameworks included etc.)

now i tryed an other g4 machine with a brandnew operating
system with all updates installed (10.4.11)

on the first start my .app wanted to install MaxMSOFMSupport.
great, i said yes !

now the .app starts the first time :-)
the log now has an error:
• error: can’t fragload jsfolder (missing <>), err -2804

the file "jsfolder" is in the /support/jsextensios folder of my .app.

i searched the forum archive and found some hints,
but nothing helped :-(

i also tryed the install the package "MaxMSPCFMSupport.pkg" inside my MaxMSP.app
with NO effect.

any other secret tips from the cycling74 guys ?
or do i have to buy a second intel mac ???

the hints:
Don’t forget to search the archives:

http://www.synthesisters.com/hypermail/max-msp/Nov04/18486.h tml

"The problem is that JSUI is dependent on the JSRef library. Currently
when building a standalone, this file is not copied from
/Library/CFMSupport.

So you can either install this file into /Library/CFMSupport on the
user machine or place it inside your package at the same level as the
MaxMSP application {package}/Contents/MacOS/. By right clicking
(ctrl-click for single button mice), you can view/edit a package’s
contents by selecting the corresponding contextual menu item. "

Do you have a [standalone] object in your patch, and did you set its
properties so that the top two "search …" options are checked
(can’t remember exactly what the wording is right now)?

That might do it. I’ve had that trouble before. I think the
standalone object changed slightly btw 4.5 and 4.6.

Best
Evan

thanx Evan,

but with the use of the [standalone] object
i did not get rid of the error on ppc machines:

• error: can’t fragload jsfolder (missing <>), err -2804

the jsfolder extention is on the right place
inside the .app structure. (and it works on intel macs)

but it seems to be not universal.

it would be great to get e tip here.

i found out a workaround to get my patch running
on the ppc using the runtime version (4.6.3) of max/msp

now the patch is running there.

after the UNDOCUMENTED action of
copying the
MaxMSP.app/Contents/Frameworks/JitterAPI.framework
to
MaxMsp Runtime/Contents/Frameworks/

i think we need a
1) bugfix or minimum a documentation
the documentation inside the jitter manual is totaly outdated, useless and confusing
2) uninstaller for maxMsp
because on the first ppc i tryed was an old
version of max/msp installed. i deleted it, but
it was impossible to run any standalone with jitter
on it. (only a REINSTALL of the operating system helped)
