So I want to build tangrams with several panels and their different shape options of "triangle" and "rectangle".

I am having a hard time because there is no "center" option in the horizontal direction of the triangle.

Is there another object that could be more flexible?

Should I do that in Jitter instead?

oh I forgot to mention it is a synesthesia patch where each shape is supposed to change its color independently and dynamically.

I can't imagine the panel object giving you adequate flexibility. I suggest looking at the lcd and jit.lcd objects.

The thing is I need to work with transparency and I don't see any way to use transparency on shapes created in a lcd. Only with images.

if you want tranparency and copymodes for quickdraw stuff, start working in lcd, then later replace it with jit.lcd. then you can apply whatever video effect or copymode you can think of. ;)

For future reference, you can use getattr to calculate midpoints. ex. If you use [getattr patching_rect @listen 1] or [getattr presentation_rect @listen 1] with outlet 2 connected to the panel object, outlet 1 will give you the size and window position of the panel (within the respective view mode) in the form of a list (every time the panel size or position is changed). Then simply unpack the list and perform basic operations for midpoints, edge distances, area, etc.
