C++ externals

January 25, 2009 | 6:08 pm

I have been learning how to write max/msp externals. I noted that they have to be in C

Can we write them using C++? Is there any tutorial how to write them in C++?

I am very much interested in this, for several reasons:

1. CUDA ‘C’ API for NVIDIA

2. For Mac OS X: XCode C++

3. For Windows: C++

Is there someone at C74 listening that can answer this.

You can certainly write max/jitter objects in C++, but the interface
to Maxland has to be C-like. For an example that may be a bit
intimidating if you’re not too familiar with templates, see
